Donald Trump unveils refurbished personal plane amid whispers of 2024

Former President Donald Trump says the Boeing 757 he used to much fanfare during his 2016 campaign has been refurbished and is ready to take off by the fall.

Mr Trump has bragged about revamping his social media platform, Truth Social, amid whispers that he will formally announce a 2024 presidential bid in the coming weeks, in part to combat unflattering testimony from January 6 congressional hearings.

The ex-president made his plane a staple during his successful campaign six years ago. He made spectacular landings at rallies and served as the backdrop for speeches.

“In my four years in the White House, I have not flown everyone’s favorite plane, the Boeing 757 on which we campaigned for our big WIN 2016,” Mr. Trump wrote. “Now it’s been completely modernized and renovated and looks great, all done in the Great State of Louisiana, and returning to the skies in the fall of 2022, or possibly sooner. Get ready!”

The aircraft retained its black, red and white color scheme and the word “TRUMP” in large gold letters. However, an American flag replaced the large “T” on the tail.

While president, Mr Trump pushed for a redesign of Air Force One that would have replaced his iconic light blue and white scheme with one that resembled his personal aircraft.

President Biden scrapped the plan, citing potential costs and concerns that darker colors would raise temperatures under the craft.
